This flower is like the one I knitted for the handbag above. To begin, CO 110 sts. Purl one row. On the next row, K1 *slip one, K1, psso* to last stitch, K1. Purl the next row. Repeat the derease row, purl back and you are done.
This flower is worked from the center out. The bind off causes the petals to turn under for a nice effect. To begin, CO 30 stitches Knit one row, purl one row. Increase row: K2, M1 across row to last 2 sts and K2. Purl across. Repeat increase row. Purl across. Next row K3, M1 to last st, K1. Work even for 3 rows (end on a purl row) and bind off. Use the cast on tail to gather the flower base and sew to your project.
You can also make individual petals and group them together.
To make a pointy petal CO 3 sts. Purl back, K1, M1, K1, M1, K1, purl back, K1, M1, K to last st, M1, K1. Purl a row, knit a row, then begin decreasing: K1, ssK, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. Purl back and repeat decrease row. Purl 3 together for point.
For a round petal CO 3, knit back, K1, M1, K1, M1, K1, knit back. K1, M1, knit to last st, M1, K1. Knit back. Repeat increase row, then knit 3 rows. Decrease row: K1, ssK, K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1. Knit back, repeat decrease row, knit back, then ssK, K1, K2tog and bind off.
